Lynn Nottage, acclaimed African American playwright, crafts a compelling narrative in “Intimate Apparel.” The play centers on Esther, a Black seamstress in 1905 New York, who creates exquisite lingerie for women of all social classes. Nottage explores themes of race, class, and female independence through Esther’s dreams of love and a life beyond her solitary existence.
